What is the Psychological Impact of Neonatal ICU on Parents & How Can You Help as a GP?
Thursday 17th December at 8:00pm
On Thursday 17th December at 8pm, Dr Frankie Harrison, Clinical Psychologist, formerly St. Andrew's Healthcare, Northampton, will present this CPD webinar on 'What is the Psychological Impact of Neonatal ICU on Parents & How Can You Help as a GP?'
The number of pregnancies ending up with a child in Neonatal ICU (NICU) is more common than many parents and GPs realise. Too often the chance of this occurring is not discussed with Mums-to-be, and there is little or no preparation for the experience if it happens. Seventy percent of parents have mental health issues following their child spending time on NICU.
Expected Learning Outcomes
1) The various psychological impacts on parents
2) The risk factors for adverse psychological outcomes
3) What is trauma and how it differs from PTSD
4) How can you prepare parents-to-be and support them afterwards
5) Signposting options

On the days I do get home in time, these webinars are great as I can listen to them while still babysitting the kids!
