Behavioural psychologists have highlighted the impact that every day language has on diabetic self-care, and demonstrated how the feeling of constantly being judged affects patients’ understanding and ownership of their disease.

In this session Dr Ian Lake and Suzanne will discuss some of the findings from her MSc research on the “Lived Experience of Type 1 Diabetes / End Stage Renal Disease patients”; and the challenges of following sometimes conflicting dietary guidance

Expected Learning Outcomes

2) The impact of medical speak on patient understanding and buy in
3) Awareness and early detection of Eating disorders in T1 diabetes

This webinar is equivalent to 1 CPD credit

About the Speakers

Suzanne Schneider RN BSc MSc
As a former type 1 diabetic, I’ve learnt first hand about the influence of diet on my health and wellbeing. I’m a registered Nutritional Therapist with an MSc in Nutrition and Behaviour.

Dr Ian Lake
I am a GP by training and currently working in diabetes education and weight management. I was diagnosed with LADA Type 1 Diabetes, aged 36. I managed it with a usual care approach for the first 20 years and changed to a very low carb lifestyle five years ago.
