Webinars for GPs

On Monday 18th March at 8pm,Prof. Mike Barnes, Senior Physiotherapist, Neurologist and Rehabilitation Physician, will present a CPD webinar on ‘Medical cannabis – Does it work and what for?’.

Cannabis has been used for millennia as a medicine and only fell out of fashion in the 1960s. At last from the 1st November 2018 doctors on the specialist register can prescribe it. But since then there have been no NHS prescriptions and only about 6 private prescriptions. Why? What is the evidence of its use. What are the side effects? Why shouldn’t GPs prescribe? This and many other related topics on cannabis medicine will be discussed.

Expected Learning Outcomes

1. Learn about cannabinoids in the plant and the other components that contribute to its efficacy.
2. Learn about the endocannabinoid system.
3. Learn about the evidence base for cannabis as a medicine.
4. Learn about the side effects and contraindications.
5. Learn who can prescribe, what they can prescribe, what for and in what format.

This webinar is equivalent to 1 CPD credit
