Psoriasis uncovered: What can we do to drive a more holistic approach in Primary Care?

16th January 2019 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Online - Zoom
Webinars for GPs

On Weds 16th January at 8pm, Kate Martin, Clinical Psychologist specialising in medical psychology, Solihull Hospital, will present this CPD webinar on ‘Psoriasis uncovered’.

Psoriasis brings many challenges for the patient and clinician. Drawing on research and case examples, we look at how psoriasis is more than skin deep. The psychosocial aspects of psoriasis, its comorbidities and physical symptomology interact. A holistic approach to care is therefore essential. Primary care brings opportunities to raise the psychosocial connection with patients, access support, optimise management of the condition and ultimately improve quality of life. We look at raising these factors with patients, sources of support and ways to tailor consultations for better outcomes.

Expected Learning Outcomes

1) Understand the psychosocial impact of psoriasis and its co-morbidities
2) Understand the need for genuine holistic care of the dermatological patient
3) Understand the need for regular reviews and the interactional aspects of consultation which can help patient outcomes
4) More effectively raise the psychosocial aspect of psoriasis with patients

This webinar is equivalent to 1 CPD credit
