Thyrotoxicosis, of which 60% is Graves disease affects 1% of the population, especially women (5:1 F:M). Thyroid eye disease (TED) only occurs in Graves disease, affecting around 20% of Graves patients. Although relatively rare, thyroid eye disease can have a life-changing impact on patients, and GPs can play a crucial role in increased awareness, early diagnosis, supporting their patients and guiding them through treatment choices.
